Deck the Walls

I used to think wallpaper was for mental patients and grandmothers, but I have since come to appreciate their sometimes-claustrophobic qualities as a divine madness. I have listed some of the best wallpapers I could find, and am always on the lookout for more for my own dream-madhouse walls! As a New Yorker, I don't have walls I can tamper with, so cracked white plaster is what I spend my days trying to conjur shapes and patterns from! (I currently can see a ghost-man and a chipmunk.)

License to Kill!

I am a HUGE James Bond fan, and based on yesterday's posting about my dad, this is also one for him - the man who turned me on to Bond. We were living in Lyford Cay, Nassau when Thunderball had just finished filming, and the one movie theatre on the island, the Shirley Street Theatre, was Bond-obsessed. We saw every single one made up to 1973 there, and in its dark depths and cockroach-laden seats, my dad would talk about how much he wanted to be Bond with his Astin Martin and fabulous gadgets. But the best thing of all about the Bond films are the credits and decors - unbeatable. So, today is Bond day (at least, my vision of Bond)...(and we all know Sean Connery is the ONLY Bond and his chicks are the best.)

I Heart Cows!

My father just had open heart surgery and valve replacements, which were swapped out for cow valves, and so today, in honor of my father's life, I celebrate cows and hearts and all things that brought him back to earth! Ah, the mighty and underappreciated cow, grazing quietly until someone harvests her organs, and yet she lives on in a man who, after surgery, saw purple lights flashing and a smiling cow looking down on him. They are saintly creatures, and I for one will never eat another cow.
